Porsche spent a whole year developing a color-changing paint. The Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade unveiled
Porsche Asia Pacific and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur have jointly created a limited-edition Taycan Turbo S called the Celestial Jade. The car features a unique paint finish that changes color depending on the viewing angle and lighting conditions.
Porsche stated that the color-shifting effect mimics the color changes of precious stones: “In the Earth’s crust, minerals are heated and subjected to intense pressure for thousands of years before crystallizing and fusing together. Even slight changes in temperature or pressure can leave an imprint on the rock, forming green, yellow, gold, white, or blue patterns.”
It took nearly a year to develop this paint. In the end, Porsche mixed two Chromaflair paints and spent about 80 man-hours applying them by hand. Chromaflair paint contains tiny flakes that “consist of an opaque, reflective aluminum core surrounded by a glass layer.” As a result, shades of bright green, yellow, dark gray, black, gold, and blue are visible under different lighting conditions.
In addition to the unique paint, the Celestial Jade features an exclusive Dragon Horse emblem on the door sills, in the floor projection lighting, and on all headrests.
The Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade will be displayed at various dealerships in Southeast Asia and then put up for auction in 2025.
