New Hyundai electric cars: the updated Ioniq 6 sedan and the second-generation Nexo crossover

Two new electric vehicles from Hyundai made their debut at the Seoul Motor Show—the updated Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan and the second-generation Hyundai Nexo crossover. These new models will go into production in the second half of 2025, and many interesting details about their technical specifications and design are already known.

2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6: A Redesigned Sedan with an Aggressive Design and an N Performance Version

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 has been redesigned, retaining its streamlined shape with an arched roof but featuring a refreshed exterior. The refreshed sedan now features a new Sonata-style front end with slim “two-tier” headlights, while a smaller spoiler has been added to the rear. For those who prefer a more aggressive design, a new N Line version is available, featuring larger air intakes and more pronounced bumpers.

The interior of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has also undergone minor changes. The cabin now features a new three-spoke steering wheel, updated controls, and additional USB ports for passenger convenience.

The top-of-the-line Ioniq 6 N sports version, with 650 l.s. of power, is expected to debut in July 2025 and promises impressive performance. As a reminder, the updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 retained its 228 and 325 l.s. trim levels but received larger batteries with capacities of 63 and 84 kW·h.

2026 Hyundai Nexo: A New Electric Crossover with a Hydrogen Fuel Cell and Improved Range

The second-generation Hyundai Nexo is the production version of the Hyundai Initium concept. The electric crossover features a new, chiseled design with more aggressive lines, including a high hood, sculpted side panels, and slim LED headlights. The rear of the vehicle now features a sloping rear window and raked rear pillars, giving the car a more dynamic appearance.

The new 2026 Hyundai Nexo has grown in size:

• Length: 4,750 mm

• Width: 1,865 mm

• Height: 1,640 mm

• Wheelbase: 2,790 mm

These changes have increased interior space and expanded the trunk capacity to 993–1,719 liters. The interior now features two 12.3-inch displays, surround-view cameras, a Bang & Olufsen audio system with 14 speakers, and a remote-controlled parking assist system.

Technical Specifications and Charging for the Hyundai Nexo

The new Hyundai Nexo is powered by a 204-sily motor that accelerates the vehicle to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and can tow a trailer weighing up to 1,000 kg. The electric powertrain, combined with hydrogen fuel cells, has been improved, and the enlarged tanks now hold up to 6.69 kg of hydrogen. The crossover’s range has increased to 700 km, and it can be refueled in just 5 minutes.

In addition, the Hyundai Nexo is now equipped with a bidirectional charging function, allowing it to be used as a power source for external devices.

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Hyundai Nexo are not merely updates to existing models, but innovative electric vehicles that demonstrate progress in the fields of eco-friendly technology and design.
