Volkswagen is preparing to unveil a new large crossover ID.Era 8X, one of the main features of which will be a range of up to 1500 km. The new model was created jointly with the Chinese concern SAIC and is aimed primarily at the Chinese market.
The official presentation of the Volkswagen ID.Era 8X is scheduled for August 21, 2026, in Chengdu. The price of the new crossover is expected to range from approximately $37,000 to $44,500 depending on the version.
Volkswagen ID.Era 8X turned out to be larger than the Touareg
The new Volkswagen ID.Era 8X belongs to the class of large family crossovers. Its length reaches 5020 mm, and the wheelbase is 2970 mm. Thus, in terms of dimensions, the new model surpasses the Volkswagen Touareg.

Once the battery charge drops, the gasoline engine-generator kicks in, increasing the total driving range to 1400–1500 km.
