Production of the new KIA Sportage Platinum Edition will begin on February 7 at the Yueda KIA smart factory in Yancheng (Jiangsu Province), and sales in China will start as early as March.

The Updated Design of the KIA Sportage Platinum Edition

Externally, the restyled Sportage retains KIA’s signature styling with an emphasis on contrasting shapes and geometry, though the front and rear ends have been significantly redesigned.

Key exterior changes:

  • new daytime running lights with “star-shaped” graphics in the form of broken lines;

  • a wide black radiator grille with chrome accents that visually widens the vehicle;

  • rear LED taillights with a continuous light signature in the same style as the front lighting;

  • a two-tone rear bumper and a roof-edge spoiler, which enhance the sporty look.

Dimensions and Positioning

The crossover’s dimensions remain within the range typical for the Chinese version, underscoring its status as a spacious family SUV:

  • length — 4,695 mm

  • width — 1,865 mm

  • height — 1,678–1,680 mm (depending on the version)

  • wheelbase — 2,755 mm

These dimensions directly impact the comfort of the second-row seats and the trunk capacity, which is particularly important for Chinese buyers.

Interior and Digital Technologies

A key update to the interior is the new-generation ccNC intelligent vehicle control system, which replaces the previous multimedia platform.

Key technological innovations:

  • head-up display (HUD)—a first for the Sportage in China;

  • improved graphics and performance of the multimedia system;

  • expanded interface customization options.

  • RSPA (Remote Smart Parking Assist)—remote, driverless parking without the driver in the vehicle.

KIA Sportage Platinum Edition Engines for China

The lineup of powertrains for the Chinese market includes two turbocharged gasoline engines:

  • a 1.5-liter G4FS turbocharged engine

    • power output: 147 kW (≈200 l.s.)

  • 2.0-liter G4NN turbocharged engine

    • power output: 180 kW (≈245 l.s.)

According to preliminary data, both engines will be paired with an automatic transmission. The manufacturer promises to reveal detailed transmission specifications closer to the sales launch.

The KIA Sportage Platinum Edition for China is not just a cosmetic update, but a comprehensive restyling with an emphasis on:

  • modern design;

  • next-generation digital technologies;

  • advanced driver-assistance systems;

  • powerful turbocharged engines.

The updated Sportage strengthens KIA’s position in the midsize crossover segment and is aimed at buyers who value technology, comfort, and cutting-edge electronic solutions.
