Volvo is preparing a new hybrid crossover with a range of over 1,000 km

Volvo has announced the development of a new model. The company plans to add a compact crossover with a hybrid powertrain to its lineup.

The new model has been assigned the code name V446. It will be developed in collaboration with Meizu and Geely. This will not be a new model, but rather a rebranded Lynk & Co 08 crossover, based on the CMA platform and equipped with an EM-P PHEV powertrain producing 585 l.s. Its total range is approximately 1,200 km. It is not yet clear whether the new Volvo crossover will borrow all of its “technology” from the 08, but in any case, its specifications will be similar to those of the donor model.

As for the in-car software for the new Volvo, it is being developed by Meizu. This will be their first collaboration. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer promises to create a new version of the Flyme Auto operating system for the Swedish company, one that will be “more Volvo-like.” It will take into account all the requirements of the client’s specialists. It is noted that this will be challenging, as the redesign will be radical.

As a reminder, the Lynk & Co 08 crossover is 4,820 mm long with a wheelbase of 2,848 mm. Its width and height are 1,915 mm and 1,685 mm, respectively. It features all-wheel drive and is equipped with a hybrid powertrain producing 585 l.s. and 905 Nm. The new Volvo model, like the Lynk & Co crossover, will be offered in the Chinese market. It is unclear whether it will be launched on the global market. The unveiling is scheduled for early 2025.
