Zeekr is preparing the 001 FR electric sports car with a record 2,000 hp
Zeekr plans to launch an even more powerful version of its 001 FR electric sports car. Work is currently underway on a version that will boast an impressive power output of around 2,000 horsepower. The debut is expected as early as next year.
The new model will likely be the first Chinese-made car to reach this level of performance. Zeekr plans to redesign the body to make it lighter and will also upgrade the braking system and tires so that the car can safely handle its tremendous power.
The sports car is powered by a fully electric powertrain featuring four electric motors and a 100 kWh battery pack. This battery allows the vehicle to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. The current version of the Zeekr 001 FR delivers up to 1,300 horsepower and accelerates to 100 km/h in an impressive 2.02 seconds. As of October 2023, the base price of the car was 769,000 yuan (approximately $107,000).
The model’s unique features include special driving modes. Among them is “Raikkonen Mode,” which simulates the sensation of driving a Formula 1 car, as well as “Acceleration Mode,” which maximizes the powertrain’s full potential.
Interestingly, Zeekr initially claimed that its 001 FR, with 1,300 l.s. of power, would remain out of reach for competitors for at least five years. However, Xiaomi unexpectedly entered the fray by recently unveiling its SU7 Ultra, which delivers 1,500 horsepower. Apparently, this is precisely why Zeekr decided not to waste any time and began developing an even more powerful variant.
