The AUDI E5 Sportback unveiled in China: a range of up to 773 km, a 10-minute charge and a 59-inch LED screen

The new AUDI E5 Sportback 2025 has begun pre-sales in China. The electric crossover-wagon was created jointly with SAIC and built on the Advanced Digitised Platform (ADP) architecture with 800 V voltage. The model's main features — a record range of up to 773 km CLTC, ultra-fast charging (370 km of range in just 10 minutes) and a giant 59-inch LED screen in the cabin.

A new AUDI brand for China

AUDI — is a new Audi sub-brand created under the Volkswagen Group strategy «In China, for China». The brand dropped the usual four rings to emphasize its independence and focus on the local consumer.

In the words of CEO Fermín Soneira:

«AUDI combines German engineering and quality with Chinese innovation. The E5 Sportback — is the best of both worlds».

Versions and specifications of the AUDI E5 Sportback

• The base Pioneer version: a 76 kWh LFP battery from SAIC-CATL, 220 kW power, 0–100 km/h in 6.1 s.

• The Flagship Quattro: two electric motors (200 + 379 kW), a combined 776 hp, 0–100 km/h in 3.4 s, a 100 kWh CATL (NMC) battery, a 647 km range.

Technology and equipment

• Dimensions: 4881×1960×1479 mm, wheelbase — 2950 mm.

• Momenta ADAS: 27 sensors (a Hesai lidar, 3 radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 11 cameras) + an Nvidia Orin X chip.

• Cabin: a 59-inch full-width LED screen, the AUDI OS system on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, the Doubao AI assistant (ByteDance/TikTok) with voice control.

• Audio and multimedia: a premium system, support for online services and a personalized interface.

Production and deliveries

• Production: the SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co. plant in Anting (Shanghai).

• Electric motors: Huayu Automotive Electric Systems (SAIC).

• Batteries: SAIC-CATL.

• Start of deliveries: September 2025.

• Within two years AUDI will bring at least two more new models to the Chinese market.
