The KIA K4 Hatchback launches in the USA: a surprisingly affordable price and rich equipment
While most automakers in the U.S. are focusing on crossovers, KIA has decided to take a different approach and bring the classic five-door hatchback back to the market. Sales of the Kia K4 Hatchback—the successor to the Forte, which immediately attracted attention with its affordable price—will begin in the U.S. in the 2026 model year.
Price and Trim Levels
American buyers will have three trim levels to choose from: EX, GT-Line, and GT-Line Turbo. The base EX trim is priced at $26,085—just about $500 more than the K4 sedan. The GT-Line version starts at $27,085, while the most powerful variant, the GT-Line Turbo, comes close to the $30,000 mark, starting at $29,985.
Engines and Transmissions
The base models are equipped with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 147 l.s. and 179 Nm of torque. It’s paired with a CVT—the same combination used in the sedan.
Those who prefer a classic automatic transmission will have to choose the GT-Line or GT-Line Turbo. These versions are equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing 190 l.s. and 264 Nm, and feature a stiffer, sportier suspension setup.
Standard Features
Even in its standard version, the KIA K4 Hatchback looks competitive. The following features are available “as standard”:
- wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto,
- heated front seats,
- wireless smartphone charging,
- over-the-air (OTA) updates,
- 16 driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring. For an additional fee, you can get a Harman Kardon audio system and a heated steering wheel. There will be no manual transmission in the lineup—the company has officially stated that it has no plans to offer one.
When to Expect It on the Market
Deliveries of the 2026 model year Kia K4 Hatchback to U.S. dealerships will begin early next year. Given its price, features, and practicality, this new model has every chance of becoming one of the most attractive five-door cars on the American market.
