Nissan is back: the electric N7 sedan unveiled for the Chinese market
Nissan is taking an important step toward regaining its lost ground in the world’s largest automotive market—China. The new Nissan N7 premium electric sedan, developed in partnership with the Chinese company Dongfeng, will be a key element of the brand’s strategy. The market launch is scheduled for May 2025.

Reasons for the Decline and Market Challenges

Over the past five years, Nissan’s sales in China have fallen by 49% (compared to 2019), primarily due to the rapid rise in popularity of electric vehicles and hybrids. The company’s only electric vehicle—the Ariya SUV—has been unable to maintain its market position. The Nissan N7 is expected to turn this situation around and mark a new milestone for the Japanese automaker.

Debut and Plans

The Nissan N7 electric sedan was first unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show with the aim of “setting a new standard for all-electric vehicles among Chinese families.” In January 2025, the model applied for a sales license, confirming its readiness to enter the market.

In addition, the CEO of Dongfeng Nissan announced that the company would launch four more new models within 12 months of the N7’s release. This underscores Nissan’s determination to regain its footing in China.

Conclusion

The Nissan N7 is not just a car, but a symbol of the brand’s revival in China. Its advanced technology, premium design, and powerful performance make it a serious contender in the growing electric vehicle market. Stay tuned for more news about Nissan’s upcoming models and strategy in China!
