A BYD sedan unveiled with a 2,000 km range and a $12,000 price

Pre-sales have begun for the new BYD Seal 05 DM-i, featuring BYD’s fifth-generation hybrid technology, with prices starting at $12,200 in China.

BYD Auto stated: “The Seal 05 DM-i not only further expands the BYD Ocean product lineup in the family sedan market and enhances the Seal series lineup, but also fully meets the needs of a diverse range of users.”

The Seal 05 DM-i is equipped with the same 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid system as the Seal 06 DM-i. The system includes a 1.5-liter engine with a maximum output of 100 l.s. and an electric motor with a peak output of 163 l.s.

The vehicle can be equipped with two versions of the Blade lithium-iron-phosphate battery: 7.68 kWh and 15.898 kWh. The electric range is 43 km and 90 km, respectively. Fuel consumption is 3.9 liters per 100 km. Vehicles equipped with this system have a range of up to 2,000 km.

The Seal 05 DM-i measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718 mm.
