0–100 km/h in 4 seconds: Mitsubishi and the iPhone maker are preparing an affordable electric car

Mitsubishi is developing a compact and affordable electric vehicle that could become one of the most dynamic in its class. The new model is being developed in collaboration with Taiwan-based Foxconn—the largest contract electronics manufacturer and a key partner of Apple in iPhone production.
According to preliminary data, the Mitsubishi electric hatchback will deliver over 400 l.s. of power and be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
When will the new Mitsubishi electric vehicle debut?
A prototype of the Mitsubishi electric car is already undergoing road testing in Australia, and the model’s official debut is expected in the second half of 2026.
The name of the new model has not yet been revealed, but Mitsubishi recently registered the trademarks ASX VR-e and ASX GT-e, which may be used for the production version.
A joint project between Mitsubishi and Foxconn
The new electric vehicle will not be an entirely original Mitsubishi model. It is being developed in partnership with Foxconn, which is actively investing in automotive technology and its own Foxtron line of electric vehicles.
The new model will be based on the Foxtron Bria—a compact C-segment electric hatchback approximately 4.3 meters long with a boxy, futuristic design.
A competitor to the MG4 and Volkswagen ID.3
Thanks to its size, price, and specifications, the future Mitsubishi electric car will compete directly with models such as:
-
MG4
-
Volkswagen ID.3
At the same time, the new model promises to offer better performance than most of its competitors in the segment.

Foxtron Bria Technical Specifications
The Foxtron Bria, on which the Mitsubishi electric car is based, is available in two versions:
-
rear-wheel drive—229 l.s., 0–100 km/h in 6.8 seconds
-
all-wheel drive — 400+ l.s., 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds
Both versions are equipped with a 57.5 kWh battery.
Range:
-
up to 516 km — rear-wheel-drive version
-
up to 466 km — all-wheel-drive version

Price and positioning: an electric car for the mass market
The Foxtron Bria is priced between $28,700 and $36,400 in the Asian market. A similar electric vehicle from Mitsubishi is expected to cost about the same, making it one of the most affordable electric hatchbacks with comparable specifications.
Conclusion: A fast and affordable next-generation electric vehicle
The joint project between Mitsubishi and Foxconn demonstrates how traditional automakers and tech giants are joining forces to create affordable, powerful, and technologically advanced electric vehicles.
If expectations are met, the new Mitsubishi electric car could become one of the most exciting offerings in the compact EV class as early as 2026.
