Record demand for electric cars in Ukraine: almost 4,000 were bought in January

In January 2025, Ukrainians were actively switching to eco-friendly transportation, registering 3,802 new electric vehicles. As of February 1, the total number of registered electric vehicles in the country reached 139,685.

This figure confirms the growing interest in electric vehicles, which is driven by both environmental trends and the economic benefits of using them.

Top Regions in Ukraine by Number of Electric Vehicles Purchased in January 2025

1. Lviv Oblast leads the way with 468 vehicles purchased.
2. Kyiv — in second place with 463 new electric vehicles.
3. The top five also include:
   • Dnipropetrovsk Oblast,
   • Kyiv Oblast,
   • Odesa Oblast.

Interesting fact: Record growth in the Volyn Oblast

• The Volyn Oblast showed a record year-over-year growth rate of 93%.
• Significant growth in the number of electric vehicles was also recorded in the Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kirovohrad regions.

Overall Structure of the Electric Vehicle Fleet in Ukraine

As of today, Kyiv holds the lead in the total number of registered electric vehicles—20,805 units. It is followed by:

• Lviv Oblast—15,984 electric vehicles,
• Dnipropetrovsk Oblast—12,098 vehicles.

These regions are showing steady growth thanks to improvements in charging station infrastructure, government subsidies, and the promotion of electric transportation.
