The ranking of the highest-quality electric cars and hybrids of 2024: the Zeekr 001 and Li L9 came out on top

Experts from the Chinese division of the U.S.-based agency J.D. Power have compiled a ranking of the most reliable electric vehicles and hybrids on the Chinese market.
Now in its fifth year, the study evaluates the TXI innovation index, which includes a technology adoption index and a market penetration index. These metrics help determine how effectively automotive brands are adopting new technologies. The study assessed owners’ preferences and the number of issues they encountered when using new technologies.
The Market Penetration Index reached a record high of 195, up 44 points from 2023. Meanwhile, the technology execution index rose to 872 in 2024, compared to 854 in 2023.
As part of the study, approximately 10,000 people were surveyed, who evaluated their cars based on nine criteria: display, exterior, interior, multimedia system, seats, handling, electronic assistants, powertrain, and climate control.
Based on the study’s results, experts concluded that the overall quality of cars has declined, both for Chinese brands and other manufacturers. This is attributed to intensifying competition and the rapid release of new models.

The Zeekr 001 took the top spot among electric and hybrid vehicles, followed by the Li L9, with the Nio ES8 coming in third. The BYD Song Plus EV came in last.
