Vehicle Recycling Fee in Ukraine: How Much Do You Have to Pay?
Since January 1, 2016, Ukraine has implemented the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principle.
EPR obligations apply to the following products: motor vehicles and automotive components—tires, batteries, oils, and fluids.

Thus, car manufacturers, official importers, and private individuals wishing to import vehicles into Ukraine are required to pay the recycling fee.
The recycling fee must be paid before the vehicle is first registered.

How to Calculate the Recycling Fee for a Vehicle

The amount of the recycling fee is calculated based on a coefficient applied to the base rate of the recycling fee for various types of vehicles.
The base rate for 2023 is 25 monthly calculation indices (MCI); one MCI is 3,063 tenge, so 25 MCI totals 76,575 tenge.
To calculate the recycling fee for a specific vehicle, multiply the base rate by the coefficient.

Scrap fee amounts for passenger cars
The minimum rate applies to vehicles with electric motors, excluding hybrids. A coefficient of 0 applies to these vehicles, so the scrap fee is zero.
For other passenger cars, the fee is calculated based on engine displacement:
up to 1,000 cubic centimeters—coefficient 3—229,725 tenge
from 1,001 to 2,000 cubic centimeters - coefficient 7 – 536,025 tenge
from 2,001 to 3,000 cubic centimeters – coefficient 10 - 765,750 tenge
for engine displacements exceeding 3,001 cubic centimeters – coefficient 23 – 1,761,225 tenge
