A unique scale model of the legendary 1965 Honda RA272 Formula 1 car has been presented in 1:8 scale. It amazes not only with the precise detailing but also with its price — almost $29,000, which is more than a new 2025 Honda Civic.
A toy Honda more expensive than a real car
The exclusive collectible Honda RA272 model was produced by Amalgam Collection, known for creating premium miniature cars. The cost of the exact replica is $28,995, whereas the price of a new Honda Civic starts from $24,595.
The model was created for the 60th anniversary of the Formula 1 victory
The project is timed to the 60th anniversary of Honda's first Formula 1 victory, when Richie Ginther won the Mexican Grand Prix in 1965 in the RA272. The model reproduces the appearance, aerodynamics and technical features of the original car, including the 1.5-liter 230-hp V12 engine running at 12,000 rpm.
Building the model takes 450 hours
The collectible model consists of 1,600 parts, and its hand assembly takes 450 hours. The model is mounted on a special stand, packed in a premium box and comes with a certificate of authenticity and a booklet with the autograph of Honda Racing president Koji Watanabe.
A limited series — only 30 examples
A total of 30 examples in 1:8 scale will be produced. A more affordable 1:18 version is also available for $1,735, limited to a series of 300 units.
