Customs clearance of cars in Ukraine in 2020
When importing a car into Ukraine, it must undergo customs clearance. Under the rules for customs clearance of cars in Ukraine, failure to comply with this requirement can lead to considerable fines and even confiscation of the car.
How to clear a car through customs in Ukraine in 2020?
To go through the customs clearance process for a car, you must provide the following documents:
- A document confirming the purchase of the car (Bill of Sale or Invoice);
- The Bill of Lading;
- The car's technical passport (Certificate of Title);
- Identity documents (a Ukrainian passport and taxpayer identification number).
What payments must be paid for customs clearance of a car?
The prices for customs clearance in Ukraine depend on the characteristics of the imported car (car type, age, engine displacement, fuel type, purchase price at auction). Under Ukrainian law, it doesn't matter which country the car was imported from. All cars go through the customs clearance process under a single system.
For customs clearance of a car, the owner must pay state taxes and duties:
This is a fixed rate of 10% of the car's assessed price. It is determined by the customs authorities and may differ from the car's actual purchase price. A car with a diesel engine of more than 5 l that has more than 10 passenger seats is subject to a duty of 20%. This duty is not affected by the car's age, type or engine displacement.
This tax is set at 20% of the sum of the car's assessed value, the excise and the customs duty on the car.
This fee applies only to passenger cars. It is from 3 to 5% of the car's value.
The amount of this payment depends on the car's characteristics, age and condition. The larger the engine displacement and the older the car, the more expensive the excise fee will be.
