Tesla has dropped the cheapest Cybertruck: the base version lasted just 5 months

The Tesla Cybertruck Long Range RWD electric pickup has disappeared from the manufacturer's configurator. The most affordable version of the model was produced for less than half a year and turned out to be the least in demand.
The cheapest Tesla Cybertruck has been dropped
Tesla has unexpectedly discontinued the base Cybertruck Long Range RWD modification. The single-motor rear-wheel-drive electric pickup hit the market in spring 2025 and disappeared from the lineup in just five months.
The reason cited is low demand: customers prefer the more expensive and powerful all-wheel-drive Cybertruck versions.
Tesla Cybertruck Long Range RWD — specifications
-
One electric motor on the rear axle.
-
Payload capacity — up to 910 kg.
-
The largest range in the entire lineup: 563–583 km on a single charge.
However, the base version lost out in dynamics and equipment to the higher versions.
The price of the Tesla Cybertruck and the price increase of the top version
At the start of sales, the Tesla Cybertruck Long Range RWD cost $69,990, and with the American subsidy the price dropped to $62,490.
Interestingly, during the world premiere in 2019 Elon Musk promised a price of $40,000, but that never happened.
At the same time, the top Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast version recently went up in price and now costs up to $115,000.
