A Zeekr executive explained that drivers will be able to use the system as a regular electric vehicle in extended-range mode, while the internal combustion engine will engage to power the vehicle at high speeds, such as on the highway.
In this way, the company’s engineers aim to address the issue of high fuel consumption in traditional extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs).
The statement by Zeekr’s CEO indicates that the company, which specializes exclusively in electric vehicles, plans to begin producing hybrids, which are becoming increasingly popular among consumers. Nevertheless, Andy An noted that in the coming years, the company will continue to focus on producing electric vehicles.
