GWM will unveil its first supercar — a rival to the Ferrari SF90 at half the price

China Is Developing a Powerful Hybrid Supercar
Great Wall Motor (GWM) has officially announced the launch of its first supercar, which will debut in late 2026. This was announced by the group’s chairman of the board of directors, Wei Jianjun, who called the project “China’s first true sports car.” Development has been underway for more than four years and is nearing its final stage.
New Elite Platform: Ultra Luxury Vehicle Group
The project is being implemented under the new Ultra Luxury Vehicle Business Group, which focuses on the premium and ultra-luxury segments. Wei Jianjun himself heads the division; Song Dongxiang, who previously served as GWM’s vice president of technology, has been appointed CEO, while technical leadership has been entrusted to Zhang Xiaobo.
To strengthen its global engineering base, the company is actively recruiting specialists from Europe and Japan and collaborating with international design studios.

Zixin Auto — GWM’s New Premium Brand
Applications for the registration of the Zixin Auto (“Car of Confidence”) brand, owned by GWM, were previously spotted in China. According to industry sources, this sub-brand will occupy the top segment of the group’s model lineup and become a direct competitor to BYD’s Yangwang in the luxury hybrid and electric supercar category.

Design and First Images of the GWM Supercar
At a corporate photo shoot marking GWM’s 35th anniversary, fans got their first glimpse of the silhouette of the new sports car—featuring wide fenders, a low profile, and an aggressive body under camouflage. The production version is expected to feature an aerodynamic carbon-fiber body, active spoilers, and a design that blends European style with elements of Chinese philosophy.

Technical Specifications and V8 Hybrid Engine
According to preliminary data, the new GWM supercar will be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 paired with an electric motor in a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) configuration.
-
Total power: approximately 1,000 l. s.
-
0–100 km/h acceleration: less than 3 seconds
-
Top speed: over 350 km/h
GWM Technical Director Wu Huixiao noted that the Ferrari SF90 serves as the benchmark for the engineers, and the development is focused on achieving the performance level of European supercars at a more affordable price.
Price and Competitors
According to Chinese media reports, the price of the new GWM hybrid supercar will be around 2 million yuan, which is half the price of the Ferrari SF90, yet offers comparable performance. The model will compete with the Porsche 918 Spyder, the Koenigsegg Regera, and the new V8 hybrids from Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Lamborghini.
Significance of the Project for the GWM Brand
For Great Wall Motor, known for its Haval SUVs and Poer pickup trucks, the move into the high-performance sports car segment is a strategic step. It demonstrates China’s ambition to establish itself in the category of premium, high-tech supercars.
