The best cars of the 2020 Chicago Auto Show
The huge variety of cars speaks to the size and scale of the 2020 Chicago Auto Show. Here are eight models that stand out this year.
Honda Civic Type R 2020
The 2020 Civic Type R has been significantly upgraded. Though it may not be immediately obvious. Since the only exterior change is a larger radiator-grille opening, which provides excellent engine cooling. Beneath the body is a set of upgraded shock absorbers for an improved ride, revised rear bushings to ease grip and some front-suspension tweaks for better steering feel. A new two-piece brake-rotor design is paired with a new brake-pad specification. This is needed to reduce fade and improve high-speed braking. The interior upgrades include a new steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara. Pricing and additional details will be available when the car goes on sale.
Jaguar F-Type 2021
Of all the models, the Jaguar F-Type represents the most modern interpretation of iconic sports cars. The updated car has a larger radiator grille, slimmer headlights and revised front and rear bumpers. The base F-Type P300 model has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 296 hp and rear-wheel drive and costs $61,600. The convertible version – $64,700. The First Edition P300 model with special trim is available in black, gray or white. It will cost $73,100. And the convertible – $75,400.
The F-Type R-Dynamic offers a supercharged 380-hp 3.0-liter V6. In addition, all-wheel drive, brake-based torque vectoring and a limited-slip differential. The cost of this coupe – $81,800, and for the convertible – $75,400. The F-Type R is fitted with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. The price starts from $103,200 for the coupe and $105,900 for the convertible. The car will accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in 3.5 seconds to a top speed of 300 km/h.

Genesis GV80 2021
The new GV80 marks its entry into the full-size luxury SUV segment.
It's designed to take on the BMW X5, Lexus RX and Mercedes-Benz GLE. The rear- or all-wheel-drive GV80 is offered with a choice of a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, each paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The GV80 features the brand's familiar styling inside and out and is expected to appear in showrooms in the summer. The GV80 is expected to cost $50,000, with top models – at $70,000.
Jeep Gladiator Mojave 2020
The Desert Rated vehicle is designed to cope with the intense heat, coarse sand, loose gravel and invasive dust that come with rough terrain. The new Gladiator is fitted with all the equipment needed for a high-speed desert journey. Washboard-ready gear, 2.5-inch internal FOX shock absorbers with external reservoirs, a reinforced frame, stronger axles, standard 33-inch all-terrain tires and much more. When climbing steep sand dunes, the precise steering lets you move confidently across the terrain.
Mercedes Weekender Pop-Up Camper
It's outfitted by Driverge Vehicle Innovations in collaboration with Peace Vans, one of the country's biggest classic camper shops. The pop-top provides a sleeping loft for two, and the rear bench folds into an additional bed. The front seats swivel 180 degrees to make conversation easier. Numerous options are available, including mosquito nets, an awning, solar panels, and, for the traveling gourmet, a pull-out kitchen mounted at the rear.
Although prices aren't yet available, you should expect the Weekender to cost from $35,000.
Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 2020
Featuring a wide range of products from the Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) division, the JPP steel door openings and rock rails, the front bumper and the waterproof JPP Rubicon winch are the main innovations.
From the powertrains, customers will have to choose one of three options. The range includes a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 270 hp, a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 hp or a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 with 260 hp. You also have to choose the body color, but here there are only two options: Ocean Blue or White.
Pricing is currently unavailable, but dealers will begin taking orders in the second quarter, and the vehicles should arrive at dealerships over the summer.
Chrysler Pacifica 2021
Chrysler invented the minivan segment and reasserted its dominance with the arrival of the 2017 Pacifica. Now that success carries over to the 2021 Pacifica. The Chrysler minivan gets all-wheel drive for the first time. Plus, there's a new top trim: the Pinnacle edition. The car has new front and rear lighting elements and a new grille. In addition, the new, faster Uconnect 5 infotainment system is standard.
The Pinnacle offers Nappa leather seats for all three rows. Besides this, it has a new built-in console and much more. The Pacifica Hybrid also returns, this time as a trim rather than a separate model.
Ford GT Liquid Carbon
Ford is giving the GT a new look - Liquid Carbon. Forgoing paint, it reveals the GT's carbon-fiber body. On top of this, the car gets carbon wheels.
The process of building the Ford GT Liquid Carbon version takes three weeks longer than a regular GT. And this isn't because of any need for special resins or special materials. The point is to correctly select the weave of the carbon fiber to create a symmetrical pattern on the body.
Ford also increased the output of the twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 to 660 hp. There is already a full list of approved GT buyers.
