Infiniti technologies that need an update
Browsing the auto news, we see progress, improvements, new products and redesigns, but in the real world there are also flops. For example, the Infiniti InTouch system is considered the least in-demand in the industry. It combines confusing aesthetics with notable software shortcomings.
The drawbacks of Infiniti InTouch
- The upper screen traditionally displays the navigation map. It's controlled via a touchscreen or a dial placed below it. At the same time, the dial only works with the upper screen. Of course, the map does its job well enough — after all, it's just a map. But the upper half of InTouch looks rather outdated.
- The lower screen looks a little better, but not by much. The graphics in the lower part of the screen look considerably newer. But on the home screen, it pushes most of its limited set of apps onto a second page, which is very distracting.
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, unfortunately, are absent.
The price of comfort
The smart 360-degree monitoring system is part of the ProAssist package costing $2,250, which also includes:
- blind-spot monitoring
- parking sensors
- rain sensors
- automatic reverse braking
Automatic front braking with pedestrian detection is standard. And if you need a lane-keeping system and adaptive cruise control, that will cost an additional $2,850. As a result, if you want the full set of safety and assistance systems, be prepared to shell out an additional $5,100. You might also consider adding all-wheel drive, for all-weather peace of mind, which will add another $2,000.
As for the technical specifications, there are two packages available:
- ProAssist for $2,250
- ProActive for $2,850
That said, the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 may appeal to many. It looks good, drives nicely and has a good price among its rivals. Incidentally, the Infiniti Q60 starts at $40,850, and if you want the Red Sport 400, the price rises to $55,000.
