The Geely Zeekr 7X spotted on the street ahead of its sales launch
Geely’s premium brand, Zeekr, has completed the application process with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for its midsize SUV, the 7X, which is expected to launch in August or September. The company has submitted three versions: a 310-kW single-motor, rear-wheel-drive model with an LFP battery, a single-motor 310 kW rear-wheel-drive version with a triple-cell lithium battery; and a dual-motor 165/310 kW all-wheel-drive version with a triple-cell lithium battery.
The 7X continues to use the same three-electric system as the Zeekr 007 sedan (see specifications). The LFP battery is a 75 kW·h “Golden Brick” battery developed by Zeekr, while the three-cell lithium-ion battery is a 100 kWh Ningde Kirin battery. The vehicle is 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,656 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,925 mm. A single-chamber air suspension is available as an option. Additional options include a roof rack, LiDAR, a two-tone roof, and a tow hook.
As the launch date approaches, new images of the 7X’s interior have emerged. The black interior showcases significant changes to the center console and door panels. Unlike the 007’s streamlined center console, the 7X’s console features dual 50-watt wireless fast-charging pads up front, a hidden cup holder in the rear, and a large, deep compartment in the armrest that likely houses a rear cooler. The genuine leather seats have a different pattern than those in the 007, with a more substantial backrest for better support, which aligns with the vehicle’s positioning as a family SUV.
The door panels feature a new design with more extensive ambient lighting and dedicated storage compartments. The 7X’s interior boasts numerous storage compartments, reflecting a practical and well-thought-out design. The central control screen, although it displays “Zeekr 001,” is actually a test system. The horizontal OLED screen features additional physical buttons for five functions and a gear selector.
Although the rear cabin remains undisclosed, reports suggest it will surpass the Zeekr 001’s level of comfort. Expected features include ventilated and heated seats with massage functions, rear entertainment screens, footrests, running boards, a zero-gravity seat mode, and sunshades on the windows.
The 7X’s exterior continues the family’s new design language introduced with the 007. It features a distinctive front end with a continuous light strip, a clamshell hood, and frameless exterior mirrors. The 7X features active AGS air intakes, retractable door handles, and a continuous taillight design.
As for the chassis, the 7X retains the 007’s materials and structure but offers an optional air suspension for improved handling and comfort. Intelligent driving features include versions with advanced driver-assistance systems, as well as LiDAR for urban NZP (Navigation on Pilot).
The Zeekr 7X is poised to compete with the Model Y, the Xiaomi MX11 SUV, the Li Auto L6, and the Onvo L60. The 7X will focus on innovation, comfort, and performance, with prices expected to range from 240,000 to 350,000 yuan (from $33,000 to $48,200).
